Short Bio: Calla Haynes for CALLA

calla haynesCALLA is a high-end womenswear label based on designer Calla Haynes’ idea of ‘relaxed luxury’ – a brand that is unique and crafted while at the same time fresh and easy to wear.

The original prints, designed by Haynes herself, are the foundation of each collection. Unique and special fabrics are the key element in setting CALLA apart.

Calla Haynes, designer of Paris-based label, CALLA, has been named a finalist for the 2012 ANDAM FASHION AWARD, the largest and most prestigious award for young fashion designers in France. She was especially honoured to be the only designer nominated in both categories: the Grand Prix of €230,000 and the Prix des Première Collections of €60,000 (reserved only for French based design houses younger than 3 years).

CALLA has had an 2012. The collection was presented during New York Fashion Week at Milk Studios in February 2012, and Haynes was profiled in the New York Times.

Collaborations on a denim capsule collection with April 77, a sustainable eco-responsible capsule collection for Honest By and swimwear for 3 Suisses have been highlights for the Spring Summer 2012 season. For Fall 12/13, CALLA looks forward to working with an expanding number of stockists including Browns Focus and www.theCorner.com.

Calla Haynes, 31, was born in Toronto and has been based in Paris for the last 9 years. After attending Parsons School of Design, she worked with Olivier Theyskens at Rochas and Nina Ricci where she honed her textile and print design skills. She continues to consult for both up-coming designers and established brands on fabric development.
