Did NBC Andrea Mitchell insult Paris Hilton and Britney Spears?

This is a YouTube election, with both John McCain and Barack Obama using the very popular video-sharing site to spiral their campaign and hopefully reach the young voters. And, as one of those young voters, I find the situation ludicrous even hilarious.

First thing first – the latest ad by John McCain comparing Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears; the Barack Obama camp, even NBC (see video clip below) are saying that it is a negative campaign, that the McCain camp is hitting below the belt.

Hmm… let me think… What are NBC and Barack Obama camp saying – that both Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are two dumb blondes? I DISAGREE with that. They might not be perfect, but both women are far from being dumb.

Paris Hilton, the celebutante built a brand around herself amidst a scandal and without using the popularity of the hotel chain that she is an heiress for.

Britney Spears, even with all the scandal about her marriage and her children is reinventing herself and making a comeback that is making her a bigger celebrity than she is already.

If political pundits believe that politics is hard, think how it is to be a celebrity. Politicians are elected once every four years, and need to campaign only during a specified amount of time. Paris Hilton and Britney Spears need to woo their fans everyday, 24×7 to keep themselves in the limelight. In short, celebrities are VOTED FOR EVERYDAY, not just once every four years.

If you ask me, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears should run for President and Vice President just to give both the Republicans and the Democrats a run for their money.

As for Andrea Mitchell insinuating that Paris and Britney are dumb blondes, maybe she should think of the old adage. When one starts pointing fingers, remember that only ONE finger points the other way, FOUR points your way. In short, who made a faux pas now?
