Trainers and running shoes

My mother was right. I have gotten so involved in my new life here in New York that I barely have time to call or email them as I promised. Thank goodness for the time difference, I actually can send them something before I go to bed. And, thanks to this blog, they can actually read what Milan, Napster and I have been up to.

You know what is funny? It was actually Napster who suggested on creating this blog that the three of us will share.

“Three’s Company for the 2000s meets today’s Big Bang Theory,” he said.

“What about ‘Gossip Girl? Can’t we be accused of copying that concept?” Imadge asked.

“Are we?” Napster answered. “Three roommates as different in personalities and backgrounds as night and day, living together in Brooklyn. We’re the cutting edge New Yorkers. Manhattan is establishment. Why not tell the world how Brooklyn is?”

Yet, are we doing that? We have written so many things, yet Brooklyn remains anonymous to our readers. It’s probably because since the three of us are new here, Brooklyn has not permeated our consciousness yet. But, it will come.

Sports Authority Under Armour Performance Trainers

Sports Authority Under Armour Performance Trainers

Now, to start on today’s topic of trainers and running shoes.

Under Armour is launching its new performance trainers, the brand’s first line of non-cleated footwear tomorrow. It will be sold at all Sports Authority’s stores nationwide.

So, why am I writing about this? Because I have been seeing the ad for this shoes all over the city, from billboards hyping the launch to in-store signage counting down the days when it will be available.

I thought that seeing all the ads on television, on the internet and in newspapers was already being exposed to advertising 24X7. Being here in New York takes that definition into an entirely new level to the point that sometimes I feel I am being brainwashed. That’s Madison Avenue for you!

So, what is important about these new shoes from Under Armour? Quite frankly, I am not sure, but it will not stop me from dropping by Sports Authority and getting a pair.

The new footwear, priced between $80-100 (Kids’ models are priced between $55-75), is being touted as “likely to shake up the cross-trainer segment, as it not only signals the latest advancement from Under Armour, but also ushers in the first high-performance footwear built specifically for competitive athletes.”

Why am I getting a pair again? I guess I’ve been brainwashed with all the billboards and ads I have been seeing, I just need to have one.
