Motorcycle Girls are Sexy

There’s something about women riding motorcycles that is sexy and Madison Avenue had figured it out in one car and motorcycle commercial wherein the man was driving the car while the girl was driving the motorcycle.

And I’m not being sexist either. Growing up in a family of very strong women, you never make a mistake of assuming that females are called ‘little ladies’ because you would never hear the end of it.

When I say girls who are on a motorcycle looks sexy, I mean that they are very attractive. It’s probably because of Peter Fonda’s now classic movie, ‘Born To Be Wild’ that gave motorcycles the rebellious image; maybe it is even Evel Knievel flying through a row of vehicles that gave the idea that when you ride a motorcycle you are daring.

Hence, seeing a girl on a motorcycle has a certain erotic feeling. The same way that Brooke Shields at 14 sounded so provocative saying that famous tagline in the Calvin Klein commercial, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.”

Still, for a girl, being sexy is just part of the equation when riding a bike. Safety comes first, the same thing that is taught to their male counterparts. And that is what Cameleon Power-Sport Apparel, a company out to show that women who ride motorcycles can stay safe and look good at the same time is all about.

“All of the apparel in the Cameleon Power-Sport line must be functional on a motorcycle, and transition women into the many other environments they move through each day,” says Kristina L. Jones (top left photo), who started Cameleon out of frustration as much as anything else.

The Indianapolis entrepreneur is an avid motorcycle rider who performed an endless search for stylish protective apparel and fashionable clothing to wear on her rides. Necessity became the mother of invention. Invisible Armor “Slide Pant” is one of them. Worn under a woman’s jeans or pants, Invisible Armor provides abrasion resistance to key areas vulnerable in a slide.

There is also Reflections™, a new line of shirts under the Ride Safe™ brand created by Cameleon. It features designs with regular and illuminating inks. During the day the design is contemporary and suitable for riding or work. At night, when exposed to direct light, the designs illuminate so the words “Ride Safe” are highly visible.

Cameleon has been recognized by Apparel Magazine as one of the 50 most innovative companies in the apparel industry. The company is featured in the magazine’s first “Innovator” edition, which was released this month.
