Bewitched by Leona Lewis’ Spirit
It’s the witching hour and I still can’t sleep. The 20-hour flight from Sydney to New York is a killer but it was worth it. It’s nice to see my parents again. It had been a year since I saw them last, before they left for Australia to begin that dig. They are real life Indiana Jones, without the running for your life part.
An unexpected highlight of the trip was seeing Leona Lewis launch her debut album ‘Spirit’ at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. Already on top of the charts in the United Kingdom, France and U.S, the British singer plans to do the same in Australia.
Wearing a white silk chiffon empire style gown from the Versace Atelier Collection, Leona Lewis answered questions from reporters and posed for the cameras. Perhaps the hottest British pop singer right now, Leona Lewis has had the most successful career launch of any television talent show winner ever with her album reaching number one in both sides of the Atlantic.
Winner of the UK’s X Factor (the British equivalent of American Idol) Lewis, 23, recently became the first British solo artist to top the US album charts with a debut record, after Spirit sold 205,000 copies in its first week to be number one in The Billboard 200. Her mentor Simon Cowell recently revealed she is the biggest-selling new artist in the world.
