Wii Fit: Will It Capture the Hearts of Fashionistas?

From the ‘Good Morning America’ to Wall Street Journal up to the blogosphere, Wii Fit is being hailed as a bold move by Nintendo to expand the gaming market to include women. Aimed at women who want to lose weight, Wii Fit is an add-on to the gaming system via a $90 attachment that look like bathroom scales.

According to the WSJ, the attachment, “dubbed as the ‘Balance Board,’ expands the range of games that can be played on the Wii to include activities such as yoga and push-ups.”

Amidst the media blitz, gaming sites and blogs do not consider Wii Fit a game, but its creator, Shigeru Miyamoto says it is, even says that “Wii Fit strengthens your rights” to game.

Fortunately, fashionistas do not even have to worry about Wii Fit as a game. Their question will be, will it burn calories, shave off inches and perhaps ask the question, will it be available in portable format (Nintendo DS) so that they can continue their regimen even if they are not at home.
